Regional Tournament Director/
Project Leader (temporary) for career development program

 
We are looking for a high energy project manager to recruit for and run a highly professional, one-day regional team competition for middle and high school students.
 
The Construction Challenge is an outstanding collaboration between the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and Destination Imagination, Inc., designed to introduce middle and high school students to the vast range of career opportunities in the construction industry.  The Tournament/Rally Director identifies potential schools and recruits teams to participate in the rally, sets up the actual rally and logistics, and recruits volunteers and staff to run the event according to established procedures.  
 
The Regional Tournament/Rally Director must be available immediately and through mid-February, 2009 and have exceptional abilities in the following areas:

  • Project Management and event planning Sales and innovative marketing Leadership and team facilitation.                                                       
  • Professional Networking and Communication (schools, students, parents, businesses)
  • A base stipend plus recruiting commissions are available for this contract position.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Work with established program and processes to deliver one-day competition.
  • Establish relationships with schools and educational institutions to attract potential teams (target is 50 teams).
  • Deliver innovative marketing to communicate program objectives, processes, and rally procedures
  • Recruit, schedule and train volunteers for appraising tournament events and assisting with program logistics
    Administratively manage registration, scorekeeping, reporting
  • Successfully run the one-day rally, emphasizing the tournament and competition, showcasing sponsor organizations, and promoting career opportunities in the construction industry

IT Administrator/Programmer

Destination Imagination (DI) is a 501 (c) (3) non profit working in the education field.We help kids learn creativity, problem solving and teambuilding skills!!! We have
been in operation for 25 years, have over 40 active American affiliates, and over 10 international affiliates including Canada, Mexico, China, England, Poland and Turkey. In addition to our 50 plus affiliate tournaments, we run an annual global tournament that has over 1,000 teams and approximately 15,000 participants. Our volunteers exceed 35,000!
The IT Administrator/Programmer manages all of the company’s computer hardware, software, services, external consultants and computer related volunteers.

IT Administrator/Programmer:

  1. Manage all company web sites, inclusive of a customized electronic shopping cart system.
  2. Continue to evolve PHP MySQL based, company developed, ‘event and competition’ information management system.
  3. Manage membership and prospect information needs.
  4. Aid users with all computer systems.
  5. Maintain W23S network, including two servers, 10 desktops, 8 laptops, email, backups and Solomon SQL2000 accounting systems.
  6. Develop email/postal mail production system to support marketing.
  7. Manage company’s internet and phone systems.
  8. Specify all computer related company purchases.
  9. Maintain computer system data information.
  10. Other duties as mutually agreed to with management.
    Compensation: Salary base is $3,500 to $4,200 per month. Required travel is 5 to 10%, inclusive of a 10 day event in May.
